What motivates you to train? Knowing that my parents would be proud of me.  My dad passed away in 2007 and I stopped working out for a while. In 2008 I was looking for something positive to do so I trained for a marathon with Team in Training, at one of their pasta parties they talked about the sport of triathlon, I was kind of sick of just running and thought I’d try triathlons. I’ve been hooked since.

Favorite quote? Pain is temporary. Quitting is forever.

What advice do you have for new triathletes? For your first season keep things simple, set realistic goals and don’t go overboard- whether it be the number of races or with all of the gadgets, gear, etc until you know you really like the sport and plan on staying in it. Just try to have fun with it.
