Race schedule for 2012?  Wildflower, ITU San Diego, OC Triathlon.

What motivates you to train?  I feel so much better throughout the day if I start it off with a workout.  It’s definitely a mind, body and soul thing for me.  At the same time, I always need to have a race on the calendar to keep myself from slacking off ;)

What advice do you have for new triathletes?   I’ll  repeat some great advice I got last year and that is that if you have a busy schedule already (work and/or school), you really need to try to compartmentalize your life in order to get it all in.  If you’re really wanting to do well and feel well in a race, training is going to be just as important as working is to earn money or studying is to earn good grades.  It simply has to happen.  So when you start feeling overwhelmed with all that you have to do, take each day as it comes and just segment it into pieces.  Now I’m fueling, now I’m training, now I’m heading to work, now I’m relaxing…  Focus on one compartment at a time otherwise it can seem like it’s all too much/overwhelming.  And know that in the end, you will feel very good about yourself.
